Have you ever walked past a construction site and wondered what is being built? It's a natural curiosity, but sometimes people ask the question in a way that deserves a snarky answer. Here are some examples:
"What's going on here?"
Well, clearly there's a circus setting up. They're going to have elephants, trapeze artists, and clowns. You should come back later and check it out.
"What are they building?"
They're building a new McDonald's. The world needs more fast food, don't you think?
"What's with all the construction workers?"
They're all on a secret mission to build a rocket ship to Mars. You didn't hear it from me, though.
"What's happening here?"
Oh, nothing much. Just a group of people trying to dig a hole to China. They're almost there, too.
"What's going up here?"
A giant statue of a unicorn, obviously. It's going to be the new symbol of the city.
"What's being built?"
They're building a new hospital. You know, for all those people who injure themselves trying to climb over the fence and see what's going on.
"What's the deal with this construction?"
It's a top secret government project. I can't tell you any more than that, or they'll have to take me out back and shoot me.
"What's happening over here?"
Just a bunch of people playing Jenga with giant concrete blocks. It's a new extreme sport.
"What's going on at this site?"
They're building a new office building. You know, so people can have a place to go and pretend to work all day.
"What are they doing over there?"
They're conducting experiments on the effects of standing around and looking at construction sites all day. It's groundbreaking research.
"What's being built here?"
They're building a new strip club. You didn't hear it from me, though.
"What's happening in there?"
They're holding secret meetings of the Illuminati. If you can get past the security guards, you might be able to join.
"What's being built on this spot?"
They're building a new shopping mall. Because apparently we don't have enough places to spend our money yet.
"What's going on in there?"
They're holding a secret society meeting. If you can decipher the secret handshake, you might be able to join.
"What's being built here?"
They're building a new Starbucks. Because obviously we need more places to get overpriced coffee.
"What's happening on this site?"
They're building a new parking garage. Because we all know that's what the world needs more of.
"What's with all the construction equipment?"
They're all just props for a new Michael Bay movie. Explosions and car chases galore.
"What's being built over there?"
They're building a new library. Because books are still a thing, apparently.
"What's going up over here?"
A giant statue of a chicken, obviously. Don't you know anything about art?
"What's happening at this construction site?"
They're building a new sports stadium. Because we all know how important it is to watch grown men play with balls.
"What's being built at this location?"
They're building a new hospital. Because apparently we all need more places to go when we get sick.
